PVDF - KYNAR®

PVDF, or PolyVinyliDene Fluoride, is a semicrystalline, thermoplastic fluoropolymer. The brand we at Marcote use is Kynar®.

Why PVDF Kynar®?

PVDF, or PolyVinyliDene Fluoride, is a semicrystalline, thermoplastic fluoropolymer. The brand we at Marcote use is Kynar®.

CarbonFluorine molecular bonds are exceptionally strong and they provide PVDF with stability. Combine these with an equal number of Carbon – Hydrogen bonds, which provide solubility, and you have a particularly useful fluoropolymer coating.

PVDF is recognised as being mechanically stronger than other fluoropolymers such as PTFE. A key property that makes PVDF stand out for industrial use is its resistance to ultraviolet light (UV) and high-energy radiation. Thus, PVDF can be found in nuclear waste processing plants.

Its high dielectric strength, abrasion resistance and thermal stability make it useful for cable and wire isolators as well as for batteries and electrical sensors.
